About Me As A Therapist

Hi, I'm Kellie!

I’m a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) based in Burbank, CA, where I’ve come to adore the unique blend of small-town charm and big-city vibrance. Originally from Tacoma, WA, I moved to California for my undergraduate studies and found my way to this wonderful community that feels like home.

Why I became a therapist:

My journey into therapy is deeply rooted in my passion for helping others. After college, I worked as a Visitation Supervisor for a non-profit foster care agency. There, I witnessed firsthand the cycles of trauma affecting families—pain caused by broken systems, abuse, neglect, and substance issues. This experience ignited a desire in me to be part of the solution. I wanted to create a safe space where people could heal from their wounds and break free from repeating trauma patterns, free from judgment.

My approach to therapy

For me, therapy begins with building a genuine relationship. I believe that true healing and change emerge from our interactions, not just from techniques and procedures. In our sessions, I bring my whole self to the table, fostering an environment of exploration, curiosity, and trust. Together, we will delve into what’s not working in your life, uncover patterns and beliefs that leave you feeling stuck, and envision a more fulfilling path forward. My goal is to understand your past, present, and future selves, reflecting back insights to help you become the best and most healed version of yourself.

Techniques I Use

In our work together, I integrate various techniques tailored to your needs.

I use:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to explore and address thought patterns, feelings, and values. Additionally, I draw on Psychodynamic, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Trauma-Informed Treatment to understand how your past influences your present. Somatic experiencing helps us connect with the mind-body relationship, and I utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for reprocessing traumatic events.

A Bit About Me

Outside of therapy, I find joy in simple pleasures. Sitting by the ocean and listening to the waves is my favorite way to unwind. I love taking long walks and savoring a good cup of coffee. A dedicated reader, I enjoy diving into both fiction and non-fiction books. I’m also a fan of challenging puzzles and the occasional binge-watching of comforting TV shows.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. I look forward to the possibility of working together and supporting you on your journey towards healing and growth.
