About Me As A Therapist

My name is Kellie Murry, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I was born and raised in Tacoma, WA, and moved to California for undergraduate school.

I currently reside in Burbank, CA where I fell in love with the small town charm in a big city.

Why I became a therapist:

I’ve always had a passion for helping people, wanting to help and support in any way I can.

After college, I worked as a Visitation Supervisor for a non-profit foster care agency where I saw the cycles of trauma impact generations of families.

I recognized the pain brought on by broken systems, abuse, neglect, substance abuse, and trauma, and was inspired to become part of the solution.

I wanted to become a safe place for people, without judgment, while they healed and challenged the repeating trauma patterns.

My approach to therapy:

Because we are relational beings, therapy with me starts with the relationship. I believe that through relationships profound healing and change can occur, more than just techniques and procedures.

Once the relationship has been established, I work hard to bring myself into each and every session, offering a safe place of exploration, curiosity, challenge, trust, and awareness in order to help people get to the healing they desire.

I ask questions about what’s not working, what patterns, beliefs, thoughts, behaviors, keep showing up only to leave you empty and frustrated, and together we begin to explore a life that could be different.

I get to know your childhood and younger parts, the current you, and the future version of you that you desire to become. I reflect back what I see,

believing you are the true expert of you, and my job is to help assist and encourage the best and healed version of yourself.

What I like to do for fun:

My favorite place in the whole world is sitting by the ocean, listening to the sounds of the waves.

I’ve found that a good long walk, and delicious coffee makes the world just a little bit lighter. I’m a big reader, both in the fiction and non-fiction world.

I like a good, challenging puzzle, and like most everyone, watching a good comforting TV to binge out on every once in a while.

Quotes I find inspiring:

“When we deny our stories, they define us. When we own our stories, we get to write a brave new ending.” -Brené Brown

“Have the courage to be imperfect”- Alfred Adler

“There is freedom waiting for you, On the breezes of the sky, And you ask "What if I fall?" Oh but my darling, What if you fly?” - Eric Hanson

“The glory of God is a person fully alive.”- — Irenaeus
